Mountain Lion Rescue Fund

  

 

 

Four Mountain Lions from the Fejervary Children's Zoo (est. 1909) in Davenport, Iowa are in desperate need of a new home.  The city run zoo has been negotiating the fate of the four big cats for the past several months.  During a meeting in the first week of June, city council members decided the Mountain Lions home would be terminated in Iowa.  With your help Majanna (7 yrs.), Taz (8 yrs.), Beauty (15 yrs.) and Beast (15 yrs.) will be coming to Texas to live at CARE. 

This can not happen without the help of many.  CARE has suffered many hardships due to the economy, as of late.  This rescue will not be one CARE takes lightly.   After much thought the decision to give these four Mountain Lions a home was made. This commitment will only happen under the conditions; funding is in place and a state of the art habitat is built, before these beautiful felines are given a home at CARE. 

Along with a great deal of funding some of CARE’s preliminary concerns are that all four Mountain Lions have been de-clawed which adds to the difficulty in habitat design and a significant increase in medical expenses.  There is also a concern for the older cat’s ability to cope with the heat of Texas.  A winter move will be necessary.   Time is ticking for these Mountain Lions.  Please help… Let’s fight together to give these four beautiful creatures the loving home they deserve.
