Sprinkles is a lion with a big heart, who learned at a very early age to fiercely protect her inner hurt and pain. For you see, she was abandoned at two years of age by the only family she had ever known. Abandonment is very traumatic for a lion, as lions are social creatures and form strong family bonds. Not only did Sprinkles face emotional abandonment, but she was neglected physically as well. She was left without food for nearly two weeks, with no way to escape her pain and suffering. That is, until CARE came to her rescue. Since that day, Sprinkles has spent many years trying to overcome her early experience, and to trust people again. It is a very guarded trust at times, but her big heart always takes over, as she radiates love to those she trusts and who love her. She has taken a courageous step to try to trust again.
