Tigger

Species: Panthera Tigris - Tiger

Sex: Male

Born: 8.27.1995

Available for Adoption

Tigger is a wonderfully handsome tiger, and for the moment, he is CARE’s all-around biggest cat. He can be quite an imposing and intimidating kitty- especially due to the fact that his pupils have trouble dilating. Because of this, Tigger is sometimes mistakenly thought to have a very intense (and even aggressive) stare. While this is most definitely true for whenever he’s eating, Tigger is actually one of CARE’s biggest sweethearts! He’s also somewhat protective of his roommate, Lydia, whenever new folks happen to be around. So if you’re new to CARE and you decide to say hello to her, don’t be surprised if Tigger insists on sitting in between you and his girl!

One of the greatest things about Tigger is the fact that he absolutely loves young tigers- even if they’re not his own! When CARE gave a home to four baby tigers in April of 2006, we had many worries about housing our youngest residents directly next door to such a big male. Even though a large space between their enclosures separated the two sets of cats, we still worried. Those worries quickly went away when Tigger’s curiosity turned into genuine affection. Recently we’ve built a special auxiliary enclosure that takes up the space between the two main enclosures. Our young ones (now full grown) can be let into that space, and they can interact more with Tigger. They are all simply fascinated with each other, and many loving snuffles can be heard during those times! It is such a wonderful thing to see such a gentle giant in our midst!
